This Dress Comes With Its Own Trolley
At her Spring/Summer 2027 show in Paris, Marie Adam-Leenaerdt sent seven looks out pulling a shopping trolley. The Fold Finds on the Belgian designer who won this year's ANDAM Grand Prize, and why the most ordinary object in the room is the point.

A trolley for a dress
Full look
Closer, same photo - What
- A wheeled shopping trolley in snake print, pulled beside a quilted pale gold dress.
- How
- Seven of the 48 looks pull a trolley. Four of the trolleys are quilted, and so is some of the clothing.
- Why
- The most ordinary object in the room becomes the idea. The clothes stay easy and the surprise is in what she carries.

Start with Look 38. A long quilted dress in pale gold, shiny like satin, cut straight to the ankle. In the model’s right hand: the handle of a wheeled shopping trolley, the kind you take to the market, with a snake print bag. Behind her, a row of lit fridges full of fruit and vegetables.
Our read, early: Marie Adam-Leenaerdt keeps the clothes easy and puts the surprise in an object nobody brings to a fashion show. The trolley is not a prop. It is the idea.
The trolley, seven times
Look 38 is not a one-off. On the brand’s own Season 08 page, which shows all 48 looks of the Spring/Summer 2027 collection, seven models pull a trolley: Looks 5, 7, 20, 24, 29, 38 and 45.
Seven looks, seven trolleys
- 01Look 5. Sheer black dress, a black trolley.
- 02Look 7. White shirt, black trousers, a black quilted trolley.
- 03Look 20. Black hooded coat, a pink trolley.
- 04Look 24. Black jacket, a cream quilted trolley.
- 05Look 29. Black quilted jacket, a black quilted trolley to match.
- 06Look 45. Blue cape, a cream quilted trolley at the hem.

The colours change, the object does not. Black, pink, cream, snake print. Four of the trolleys are quilted, and so is some of the clothing: the Look 29 jacket is quilted like the trolley beside it. Critics at the show read the quilted jackets as borrowing the padded proportions of old shopping bags (reported).
The set: a supermarket
The show took place on Tuesday 29 September 2026 at 11:30, on the official Paris calendar. The brand’s own show film opens on refrigerators lit from inside, shelves stacked with fruit and vegetables. White columns carry more of them as sculpture.
The room
- 07Look 1 walks in front of the fridges.
- 08After the show: grapes and vegetables sculpted on a column.

Before the show, the designer was reported describing the mood as “a bit too chic for the supermarket, too chic for the market, too chic to go to the football, but super-easy chic.” She was also reported saying the starting point was a customer who wrote to her on Instagram that putting on one of her trench coats made her feel instantly well dressed.
Who she is
Marie Adam-Leenaerdt is Belgian. Her brand says she graduated from La Cambre in Brussels in 2020, worked for major fashion houses (reported as Givenchy and Balenciaga), and launched her own label in 2023. Spring/Summer 2027 is Season 08 on her site: her eighth collection.
On 1 July 2026 the ANDAM jury gave her its Grand Prize: 300,000 euros and a year of mentoring by Alexandre Mattiussi, founder of AMI Paris and president of this year’s jury. The Paris fashion federation describes her brand as built on “shifts in proportion, modularity, reversibility and multifunctionality.”
Why we chose her
Read her shop and you get a list of ordinary things: a Bus Seat Sweater, a Tablecloth Dress, a Robe Braderie (a braderie is a street flea market). The brand’s own line is that she “observes everyday objects to create timeless clothes.”
From her shop
- 10Skirt Pants, front: a long skirt.
- 11Skirt Pants, back: trousers.
- 12Bus Seat Sweater.
- 13Tablecloth Dress 1.

The Skirt Pants are the clearest example. The product page describes “a long skirt silhouette at the front and trousers at the back.” A skirt for the people in front of you, trousers for the fold. As a magazine named after that fold, we approve.
Why it matters
Fashion usually borrows the everyday as a picture: a logo, a print, a slogan. Adam-Leenaerdt borrows how a thing is used. A trolley is something you pull. Skirt pants are something you walk away in. The joke lands because the clothes around it stay wearable: a white shirt, black trousers, a long quilted dress.
That is why she is our Fold Find. Plenty of young labels can make an object funny once. She has made it a method, and the ANDAM jury has just backed it with money and a mentor.
So, honestly: would you pull the trolley, or just take the dress?
